Tasting Notes

Intoxicating scents of plum, spice cake and cocoa nib emerge in the glass unfolding on tightly framed, full-bodied palate. Layers of plush fruit sweep the palate with a decadent swirl of blue fruit, chocolate and churned earth, supported by velvet tannins and tightly knit acidity. Patience will be greatly rewarded.

  • Aging: Block 13 Merlot, hand harvested, destemmed and optically sorted. Fermented in oak upright & stainless steel tanks. MLF conducted in barrel and aged on lees for 22 months in 60% New French Oak barrels. Unfined & unfiltered.

Aromas of blackberry preserves, red cherry, and dried rose petal emerge with a touch of baking spice. On the palate, layers of black plum and current are supported by firm tannins and balanced acidity, finishing with fullness and warmth. "This is a distinctive take on pure Merlot, drifferent from any I've had from Walla Walla or Red Mountain, more concentrated and precise than the broad flavors of Horse Heaven Hills Merlots. The vein of granite that runs through it puts a focus on the mix of wild berries, cocoa, hazelnuts and graphite. A couple more years of bottle age are recommended, or decant aggressively.
