"The 2023 Rocky Pond Estate Winery Double D Vineyard Merlot from the Rocky Reach shows an opaque ruby core with a faintly brick-toned edge. Aromas of blackberry preserves, red cherry, and dried rose petal emerge with a touch of baking spice. On the palate, layers of black plum and current are supported by firm tannins and balanced acidity, finishing with fullness and warmth. "This is a distinctive take on pure Merlot, drifferent from any I've had from Walla Walla or Red Mountain, more concentrated and precise than the broad flavors of Horse Heaven Hills Merlots.
